Transparency and Governance
Becoming a 501(c)(3) comes with both recognition and responsibility.
As a recognized nonprofit, we operate with transparency and accountability to our community, donors, and partners. This means:
We maintain clear financial records and report our activities annually to the IRS through Form 990.
Our leadership and board of directors oversee all operations and spending to ensure that funds are used responsibly and in alignment with our mission.
Decisions are made collectively by the board, and no individual or member personally benefits from organizational revenue.
Donors can trust that their contributions directly support wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and education in our region.
Our 501(c)(3) Status is Official
We’re proud to announce we are officially a 501(c)(3) as of October 2025!
Wildlife 911 Northern Neck is officially recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This designation means we are a nonprofit public charity, fully dedicated to serving our community and wildlife — not generating profit.
Eligibility for Grants and Funding
Our 501(c)(3) recognition also opens the door to new funding opportunities. Many foundations, corporations, and government agencies restrict their grants to registered nonprofits. This means Wildlife 911 Northern Neck can now:
Apply for conservation and education grants from federal, state, and private sources.
Partner with local governments and agencies on wildlife initiatives.
Participate in matching gift programs from employers.
Offer tax-deductible donations, giving our supporters an additional incentive to contribute.
These new resources will allow us to expand our rescue operations, improve rehabilitation facilities, and offer more community education about living alongside native wildlife. One of our loftiest goals is to build a Wildlife Center!
Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
